“It is a little Frankenstein bike, but I love it.”

[/split_line_heading][vc_column_text]Hey my two wheel friends, my name is Trent.
I was always and still am a bit of a car nut(Well really I think I’m anything-with-an-engine nut).
I decided to get into motorcycles drunk at 10am at the end of my brothers bucks party. I wanted to get a motorbike, because my little brother had been riding for a few years. At that time he moved out of home, and I thought motorbikes could be a good excuse to get him away from his wife and hang out with me instead.
Pretty sure, getting a bike has been one of my best intoxicated decisions to date. Even though, it wasn’t easy to explain to my girlfriend where all the money went within 24 hours.[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”40″][image_with_animation image_url=”6349″ alignment=”center” animation=”Grow In” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” max_width=”100%”][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”40″][vc_column_text]

“I thought, motorbikes could be a good excuse to get him away from his wife and hang out with me instead.”

I started my motorbike life with sports bikes. My dad rode Harley’s and my brother retro Triumphs. I just wanted something that went fast. I still have a GSXR and love it, but after working on cars for many years, and the need to keep my hands busy, I took on the goal to build a little cafe racer for myself.
So I went and built myself a slow, loud and low little Honda CB250 from 1981. I wasn’t worried about making a cafe racer go fast, because I already had a bike that did that. I just wanted it to look and sound cool. It was a challenging bike to put together, with wheels and forks off a CB400 gold star. I made my own rear sets with brake levers off a CBR600. Then I wanted to make the front brakes work, like a new sports bike. So I made some GT650R duel calibers fit, with a brake master off a R1. It is a little Frankenstein bike, but I love it.[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”40″][image_with_animation image_url=”6348″ alignment=”center” animation=”Grow In” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” max_width=”100%” el_class=”.padding-md”][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”40″][vc_column_text]The little 250cc is so much fun to ride because every set of traffic lights becomes a race. You pull up next to a Toyota Yaris look at each other and it’s on. And you got to be ready to launch that little CB250 like the NASA space shuttle if you want to win.

“And you got to be ready to launch that little CB250 like the NASA space shuttle if you want to win.”

It has sparked an awesome hobby for me. With aspirations to build more and more crazy little Frankenstein bikes. And to be able to spend time at KK with like-minded lunatics is just the best. I’m working on a CB400T from 1980 at the moment. I want to make it lower and louder, than the last one. Basically, I want to build it like a 8th mile drag bike, that I can ride on the street.[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”40″][image_with_animation image_url=”6347″ alignment=”center” animation=”Grow In” border_radius=”none” box_shadow=”none” max_width=”100%” el_class=”.padding-md”][divider line_type=”No Line” custom_height=”40″][vc_column_text]If I was to give one piece of advice to anyone wanting to start their own custom project it would be:
Figure out what kind of bike you want to build. Write a list of what you need to do to get there and just start with the first thing on the list. You will get to the end eventually. And you will have an awesome, frustrating and painful time getting there. But you won’t regret it.

KTM 390 Duke: Klassified Finds

What is it? It’s cheap, modern, weighs next to nothing, and has enough power to keep things interesting. What more can you ask for? While KTM cut their teeth making fire breathing single-cylinder dirt bikes, their 390 Duke lays claim to neither of these. In reality,...
