Kustom Kommune seeks new direction for DIY moto workshop.

Kustom Kommune, Australia’s first communal do-it-yourself motorcycle workshop, is seeking a new direction as it celebrates ten years of operation. Founded in 2013 by Jimmy Goode, Kustom Kommune provides a space for motorcycle enthusiasts to work on their bikes, learn new skills and connect with like-minded people.

After a decade of running the organisation as a philanthropic passion project that focused on making a positive impact in the community, Jimmy sees much more potential in both the brand and concept. With his recent move to Berlin, Germany, he feels it’s the perfect time to explore a new team with new ideas to drive the concept into the future.

“I’ve poured my heart and soul into Kustom Kommune over the years, but I know it’s time for me to step back and let a new team take the reins. I want to see this community continue to grow, evolve and thrive. I believe fresh perspectives and new ideas are essential for that to happen. It’s never easy to let go of something you love so much, but I’m excited to see what the future holds for Kustom Kommune under new leadership”, he says.

“To remain a leader in the DIY community space, Kustom Kommune needs to continue to innovate and evolve. We need to stay ahead of the curve, offering new and exciting experiences for our community. More importantly, we need to keep fostering a sense of community and collaboration within our walls. That’s what has always set us apart, and that’s what will continue to drive success.”, explains Jimmy.

Kustom Kommune is open to proposals that align with their values of inclusivity, creativity, and innovation. Whether it’s handing over to a new team or exploring new organisational structures such as a cooperative; where members have ownership and contribute to its operations, all proposals will be considered.

Jimmy hopes to have a plan underway by early April 2023. Anyone interested in finding out more about Kustom Kommune or is interested in submitting a proposal can get in touch below.
