For a decade, Kustom Kommune was more than just a workshop; it was a sanctuary for motorcycle enthusiasts, a hub of creativity, and a lifeline for those battling social isolation. Founded by Jimmy Goode and later joined by Nina Goode, Kustom Kommune defied expectations to become one of the world’s most successful DIY community workshops.

Kustom Kommune’s impact on the motorcycling industry and community was remarkable. Events like Oil Stained Brain and Dirt Daze Weekend celebrated camaraderie and the love for two wheels, while innovative mental health programs provided support and connection to countless individuals. The workshop collaborated with industry giants like GearWrench Tools, Tufflift Hoists, Harley Davidson, and Panhead Custom Ales, as well as organizations such as Spokes.com.au, whose support was instrumental in its success.

Jimmy and Nina poured their hearts into creating a space where people could share their love for motorcycles and learn valuable skills. Their dedication and sacrifices kept the dream alive, even in the face of adversity. In 2022, they sought to transition the workshop to a more democratic structure, but unexpected obstacles arose, leading to the painful decision to close the workshop.

As Jimmy reflects, “Kustom Kommune has been a challenging but incredibly rewarding journey. We’ve faced adversity in the past and would always dig deeper, push harder, and make whatever personal sacrifices it took to keep the dream alive. After this devastating experience, we’ve reached a point where it’s time to recognize when to let go.”

The decision to close the workshop was gut-wrenching for everyone involved. However, the community built over the past decade will continue to thrive, united by their shared passion and unbreakable bonds.

It was with a mix of sadness and gratitude that Kustom Kommune announced the closure of their Melbourne workshop. Despite the challenges, the team chose to celebrate the incredible journey they shared with all their members. The memories made, skills learned, and friendships forged will live on.

As Kustom Kommune takes its final ride down memory lane, they express their deepest appreciation to each member of the Kustom Kommune family. The members made it an unforgettable adventure, and the workshop couldn’t have achieved its success without them. It was an incredible ride.

Though this chapter has come to an end, the spirit of Kustom Kommune will forever remain a part of those who were involved. The team thanks everyone for being a part of their story and cherishes the exciting adventures they had together.
